#StyleMeMarch – Two Days in One

As I said yesterday, I switched my prompt days. Turns out that I qualified for both prompts today.

I wore two patterns together today AND I wore white with neutrals again!

I am still short on words these days. Here are the details.

#StyleMeMarch Neutrals & White {switching today and tomorrow’s prompts}

Today’s challenge was to wear two patterns together. Tomorrow’s challenge is to wear neutrals and white. I am switching it up!!

So I haven’t talked much in detail about the work that I do. But events this week have been heartbreaking. I work for a school system and was a teacher leader at a particular school for about 5 years. In January, I was promoted to a central office job. Yesterday, a student at that school was murdered by her father in a murder – suicide. I am devastated. I don’t understand.

#StyleMeMarch: Sexy

Today’s Style Me March Challenge was to be sexy. I work for a school system… being sexy really isn’t work appropriate.

The weather around here has been sooo nice. I just couldn’t help but to go bare legged today. I was struggling trying to figure out what to wear and ended up going monochromatic again! (see all of these examples)

I got several compliments on the outfit today and was very pleased with the end result.

I am going with the lace and silkiness as the sexy elements of this outfit.

#StyleMeMarch & Everybody Everywear

Today I am participating in two challenges:

Style Me March & Everybody, Everywear

Green: Everybody, Everywear

Style Me March’s prompt was to wear strong eyeliner

Shirt – The Limited, Pants – Express, Necklace – gift from MIL, Shoes – Nine West, Belt – New York and Company

I thought that since I was going all green – I would need my pot of gold too!

Here is my attempt at strong eyeliner. Excuse the weird expression on my face. I was having a hard time getting a picture.

#StyleMeMarch: Belt It

Today’s challenge – Belt It!

So, I belted it.

Jacket – The Limited, Blouse – The Limited, Belt – The Limited, Jewelry – New York and Company, Pants – Calvin Klein, Shoes – Zinc via DSW

Today was pretty warm so much of the day I actually wore this.

I like how the belt really tied together the jacket to the outfit. I also liked how it made the navy and orange much more springy in feel without the jacket.

So this weekend I didn’t post the challenge photos. I may try and get them up later this week.

What do you think? Does this belt make the outfit work?

#StyleMeMarch: Dots or Stripes & #FindItFriday: Week 5

It is that time of the week again!!

Find it Friday is here AND I am still able to participate in the Style Me March Challenge!

Cardi – New York and Company, Shirt – New York and Company, Skirt – The Limited, Scarf as belt- New York and Company, Shoes – New York and Company

Today’s found item is my white shirt. I bought this shirt last year when I was nursing my daughter. It was great for that and I guess that I  just never really have worn this since then. I actually really like the neckline and think that it is a good shirt to wear in the summer but can be hard to style with four pockets on the front and brownish buttons.

Two things I realized today

1. I was overly ambitious and hopeful when going bare-legged today.

2. I really need a pedicure!!!

What do you think? Is this shirt worth keeping in my closet?

{don’t forget to add your link to the comments if you joined me this week}

#StyleMeMarch: Teased Hair

Today was a stretch!!

When I first read this, I thought that might be clever and make fun of my hair… you know tease it. I did actually physically try and tease it today. I am not sure that it worked, but I tried.

Today I was trying to channel early spring. It isn’t quite warm enough to be all bare legged and what not, but it is warm enough that I am craving spring-like outfits.

So what do you think? How is my Style Me March Challenge going? Have you liked my creations? I know that I have been pushed out of my comfort zone a couple of times already and that is what I love about challenges.  Speaking of challenges – anyone want to join me for Find it Friday tomorrow?  I am going to participate in both challenges. It should be interesting. 🙂

{Goes to outfit plan since the Bug is taking a nap and the Hubs isn’t home}

#StyleMeMarch: LBD to Work

Yet another great prompt for day!

Today we were prompted to wear a LBD to work. I thought that I went pretty basic with doing this, and I got TONS of compliments today on my outfit and hair. It must have seemed special to my colleagues.

Cardi – New York and Company, Dress – New York and Company, Cami – New York and Company, Belt – New York and Company, Tights – Target, Jewelry – Kohls, Boots – Chinese Laundry via DSW

I really liked how the outfit turned out. The subtle pattern mixing of the tights and the cami add just the right amount of interest. 🙂

I have a confession to make about this outfit. I altered it to work for the camisole and for work. This is a picture of how the dress looks un-altered.

(Click on the picture for source)

I love the dramatic neckline of this dress and it just didn’t work for this outfit today, so I pinned the points back and made it a v-neck.

I tried something new with my hair again today too!. I should have taken pictures this morning, when it was still in place – after a 12 hour work day, it was starting to fall apart. Overall, I liked the effect. I am finally starting to get used to the shortness of my bangs. Speaking of hair… I am pretty scared about tomorrow’s prompt. We are supposed to tease our hair. Wish me luck!

#StyleMeMarch: Wear a Pattern & Catching up on D2 – Braid

Style Me March Challenge = Love!

Today’s prompt was to wear a pattern and the second day that I missed was to wear a hair braid. Again, I combined them to be all caught up!

Shirt – New York and Company, Sweater – Old Navy, Pants – Eddie Bauer, Necklace – Gift from MIL, Boots – Michael Shannon via Rack Room

Braiding my hair was out of my comfort zone. I am just experimenting with this style. I have never really worn braids, even as a young child. I have had short hair most of my life and never really learned how to braid my hair very well. Now that my hair is long, I would actually like to learn how to french braid it, but since I don’t even know how to french braid – I went with a very simple braid.

Last night before picking out what to wear today, I was g-chatting with a friend. We were talking about not knowing what to wear today and that person asked me what were my hunches about what I might want to wear (silly question I know, but it did get me thinking and that was the point!). I replied that I wanted to wear something warm and comfortable yet still stylish and professional. I then went to my closet to try and put together an outfit that met that criteria AND had a pattern in it somewhere.

This sweater was staring at me from my clean laundry basket. The shirt was laying underneath the sweater… instant outfit! I then pulled out four different pairs of pants and decided that these were the best option for the day. While there is nothing super special about the outfit, I love the color combinations and the overall preppy feel. Since I was feeling preppy, I immediately grabbed my fake pearls. Mission =accomplished!

Have you ever created an outfit just because of the way you folded your laundry? I don’t know that I would have thought to put these pieces together otherwise and I love it!
