#StyleMeMarch: Belt It

Today’s challenge – Belt It!

So, I belted it.

Jacket – The Limited, Blouse – The Limited, Belt – The Limited, Jewelry – New York and Company, Pants – Calvin Klein, Shoes – Zinc via DSW

Today was pretty warm so much of the day I actually wore this.

I like how the belt really tied together the jacket to the outfit. I also liked how it made the navy and orange much more springy in feel without the jacket.

So this weekend I didn’t post the challenge photos. I may try and get them up later this week.

What do you think? Does this belt make the outfit work?

80’s Anyone?

I would like to preface this with – I don’t think that these pants are 80’s-ish, but the Hubs does.  I have been wanting a mustard colored skirt and yesterday while running errands, we stopped by New York and Company. I really wanted their raspberry pink suit – but also tried on these pants. I liked them a lot and the Hubs thought that they were a little 80’s, so I thought that I would just wait until they went on sale. It turns out that it was buy one pair of pants and get another pair FREE! I also had a super coupon for spend $90 and save $40. So I ended up buying the pink suit and these pants (if you can call getting them free buying them). There are several other things that I also now have my eye on. I am so excited about these pants that I have thought of at least 4 different ways that I can wear them.

Sweater – Target, Button -Up, Pants, Jewelry – New York and Company, Shoes – Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx

What do you think? Are the pants too 80’s? I also am loving an ankle pant with heels. I have about three or four other ankle pants on my wishlist. What do you think? Do you think that they are flattering at this length on me?

So this is my first of 4 BOLD outfits this week. I think that will be my theme. I have also thought about what I am wearing for Find it Friday too! Yay for outfit planning.

And now for the detail shot – Have a great day!!

Casual Weekend Wear

My inlaws were in town this weekend. We had a lot of fun relaxing. Friday night we went to dinner near by and just caught up. Saturday we played at the local park with the Bug and then the Hubs and I went on a date without the baby – dinner and a movie. The grandparents watched the baby and loved it! Sunday after church, we went to Co Co Sala for brunch. The chocolate was amazing and i cannot wait to go back with girlfriends. Today I had doctor’s appointments and errands to run after the inlaws left for Ohio.

Here is a roundup of weekend outfits. I wore one other one – but the Bug got it very dirty and not picture worthy.

It was a long week and it was nice to change into something very comfortable for dinner at the local diner.

I am so excited that the Hubs and I did a little bit of shopping when we were out running errands. I have some BOLD outfits coming this week.

The detail shots are always fun to put together. You may have noticed that some pieces I wore over and over again. That happens on the weekends. I like to remix multiple days in a row. I also think that leopard should be considered a neutral. What do you think?

I also found out that I can make my hair wavy. Naturally my hair is very straight -so to have a little waves is very exciting to me. What do you think? Do you like the waves?

***on a side note – I took all of these pictures this morning due to the fact that we were super busy and my daughter was loving her snack in the highchair***

The Winter Edition 10 Day Challenge {Day 5 – Pattern Mixing}

For today’s challenge, we were asked to do some pattern mixing.

I started experimenting with pattern mixing in December of 2009. (How do I remember that exactly?? That is when I had my other blog that I deleted – some people may remember me as from sneakers to stilettos.) I liked today’s challenge though because I have never mixed patterns in this dressed up of an outfit.

Dress & Belt – Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx, Cardi – New York and Company, Tights – Kohls, Shoes – Simply Vera via Kohls, Necklace and Earrings – via Eastern Market

I actually had thought about switching prompts with yesterday but then I thought it would be more of a challenge to keep the prompts the way they were. Also one of my new bosses had this awesome pattern mixing outfit on earlier this week that inspired me for today. She wore a nice black and gray striped shirt under a black leather blazer with the same colored gray and black large print houndstooth pencil skirt. She then wore black tights and pumps. It was such a chic outfit and I thought, that I might be able to pull something off too.

So I went with this new dress. I love the varying stripes of gray, black, and white. I then added these black argyle tights. I knew that I wanted a little something else to add to the mix and added the large flower statement necklace.I decided not to add a pop of color, but keep everything else basic black so that the pattern mixing was the highlight.

Check out my other fellow pattern mixing friends below!

And for fun – Here is my daughter happy that her momma is home from work!

The Shoes That Started It All

Suit – The Limited, Blouse – The Limited, Polka Dot Tights – The Limited, Necklace – The Limited, Glasses – Calvin Klein

Shoes – Chinese Laundry via DSW

Today I want to introduce you to the shoes that started my style transformation! I have always been interested in clothing and shoes. I have tried to be stylish. But it wasn’t until I bought these shoes that I started to transform how I looked at clothing, putting together outfits, and found a true style that I call my own. While I am also constantly evolving and trying new things – my overall style could be described by these shoes.

They are my ABSOLUTE favorite color of green!

They are bold , yet have many classic qualities.

They add just the right amount of personality in any outfit pairing.

They are versatile. I can wear them to work, around town, to church, and on date night.

They are comfortable and chic –  my most favorite combination of clothing items.

These shoes = ❤ in my book!!

I also really love they turn a rather routine pale gray suit into a stylish outfit. They bring interest, match my blouse, and add a chic-ness to an outfit that could have been ordinary. The polka dot tights help too!

Happy Weekend everyone – I am looking forward to a few days off. Tomorrow I get a massage with one of my BFFs!!
