#StyleMeMarch: LBD to Work

Yet another great prompt for day!

Today we were prompted to wear a LBD to work. I thought that I went pretty basic with doing this, and I got TONS of compliments today on my outfit and hair. It must have seemed special to my colleagues.

I really liked how the outfit turned out. The subtle pattern mixing of the tights and the cami add just the right amount of interest. 🙂

I have a confession to make about this outfit. I altered it to work for the camisole and for work. This is a picture of how the dress looks un-altered.

I love the dramatic neckline of this dress and it just didn’t work for this outfit today, so I pinned the points back and made it a v-neck.

I tried something new with my hair again today too!. I should have taken pictures this morning, when it was still in place – after a 12 hour work day, it was starting to fall apart. Overall, I liked the effect. I am finally starting to get used to the shortness of my bangs. Speaking of hair… I am pretty scared about tomorrow’s prompt. We are supposed to tease our hair. Wish me luck!

Inspired

Today’s outfit is brought to you by The Inclined Plane!

Loren wore this outfit back when I first found her blog and I was in love. I knew that I had to re-create it. Today was the perfect day to do that. Since I wore BRIGHT pink yesterday, I knew I wanted to tone it down a little today. A girl can only steal the spotlight so many days in a row at work. 😉

Here is my almost literal interpretation of this outfit.

I had to throw in a little pop of green. This is because green is my absolute favorite and because today is March 1st! That means it is Irish month!!

Loren – you were a great inspiration! Thanks for making getting ready SUPER easy today. 🙂 What are your favorite go-to outfits? Do you ever wear all black?

Also – don’t forget to join me tomorrow for Find it Friday!

Monochrome Me

I didn’t do any outfit planning this weekend, so when I woke up today I had no clue what I might want to wear. I ended up grabbing this brown dress from Target. I thought about pairing it with my leopard wedges and a burnt orange cardi, but then decided to go all brown expect for the big pop of jewelry (although this necklace certainly has brown tones).

My new glasses finally came in! I am so excited that I can finally see clearly again – I also tried a bold lipstick today.

My glasses are Michael Kors. I love all the little details of them. They have a great rectangle shape that flatters my face and then they have these clear triangles on the side. They are also very comfortable.

What do you think, do you like the new glasses? Do you like the bold lips?

Now, I should really plan my outfit for tomorrow so that i get to work on time in the morning. 🙂

Heart Day

Valentine’s Day is such a fun day. I love pink and red… today I went for pink and red together!

COLOR BLOCKING ROCKS!!!

I have been very inspired by this picture from pinterest!

I need to try this red and pink colorblocking soon

I still want those pants. But I thought that I did a good job with the colors.

I really loved this outfit, except that my bottom button on my skirt popped off while getting the baby in the car this morning and I felt like it made the skirt slightly inappropriate for work. I managed though.  I also threw in rose lace tights because hey – it is Valentine’s day and you should celebrate with roses.

Today I also am participating in TWO challenges… I love when things collide like that.

I like my lipstick today. 🙂

Find it Friday { Week 1 }

Today I bring you my first Find it Friday!

What is Find it Friday? Well it is when you FIND something in your closet that you haven’t worn in a long time and wear it on FRIDAY. Then you make up your mind if it still should belong in that closet of yours. If you ever want to join me – let me know and if I get enough interest, I will teach myself how to have a link party and link you all in. 🙂

So the item that I FOUND is this skirt. It is a mix of menswear and girly ruffles. I really liked it at the time, but I am not sure {after over 4 years of not wearing it} that the proportions are right for my body. I also feel weird with the ruffles, like they are too girly for me. I also think that it is weird that I would find something to be too girly for me. I mean I LOVE pink, and skirts, and shoes, and girly things in general. I don’t know if it is the combination of the ruffles and pinstripes or just the proportions, but I am not sold on it. I didn’t wear heels today, so that could have contributed to my uncertainty as well.

What do you think? Should it stay or should it find a new home?

I am thinking about keeping the skirt for another month and if I wear it again – it will stay. If I don’t, then off it goes to find another owner that will rock it!

Gray Day

I have been thinking about this outfit for a while now. I originally thought about it with gray pants, but went with a skirt instead because I wanted to wear the boots.

Sweater – Old Navy, Button-Up – New York & Company, Necklace – Eastern Market, Skirt – The Limited, Tights – New York & Company, Boots – Chinese Laundry via DSW

What do you think? Do you like the monochrome gray? Someone in the elevator today told me that they really liked my outfit. When strangers say it – it must be true.

So starting tomorrow – I am going to do this thing called Find it Friday. This is where I go and find something in my closet that I haven’t worn in a while and find a way to make it work. I will then decide if it is a keeper or not. Let me know if you want to join me. 🙂

Challenge: 1 Shirt, 7 Days {D3}

So, I started this challenge quite a while ago. I have been slacking. I have had a lot going on in my life. Ok – I have been slacking.

Day 1 – Tuesday’s Look

Day 2 – Friday’s Look

Today I bring you Day 3 – Sunday’s look. I actually wore this yesterday {Tuesday} but started feeling sick last night. I didn’t go to work today and I know that you don’t really want to see me in my pjs.

Challenge shirt – Old Navy, Sweater – Target, Skirt – J Crew outlet, Shoes – Nine West, Flower pin – New York and Company, Jewelry – The Limited, Tights – KMart

Inspiration Photo

You may have noticed that I went with a much looser inpretation this time. I felt like the bright skirt and flower conveyed the feeling of this look really well. What do you think? Can you see the inspiration?

I also got my eyebrows waxed yesterday. It is my most favorite/neccessary beauty routine. What about you? What do you absolutely love/ need having done?

PS – Pedicures are a close second.

Check out those perfectly groomed eyebrows.

Don’t mind the fact that I look super tired here. It was a long day at work and  was starting to not feel well at all.

Also – don’t you love the little splash of pattern mixing?

The Winter Edition 10 Day Challenge {Day 8 – Dress Up a Coat}

We are on the home stretch now. Only 2 more days of the challenge.

Today we were challenged to dress up a coat. I have a nice trench coat that already has some fun details, but I decided to go ahead and add to them. It made sense because it was also raining this morning. It has been such spring weather around here lately.

Coat – New York and Company, Flowers – New York and Company, Necklace & Earrings – The Limited

I went with the green flowers because I liked how they were so close to my orangy-pink necklace. I thought of it as channeling flowers and stems, but reversing the colors.

Shirt – New York and Company, Scarf – gift from my Mom, Skirt – Express, Tights – Target, Shoes – LAMB via TJ Maxx

I was inspired by my Work It Wednesday post and put together the work look – only with my own pieces.

I really loved how these shoes looked today. I also liked the addition of the scarf as a belt. It added some color and interest. It also inspired me to wear my beaded statement necklace. What do you think? How did the look turn out?

The Winter Edition 10 Day Challenge {Day 7 – Bright Colors}

Going strong and completed the 7th day of the 10 day challenge!

Today’s prompt was bright colors. I was super excited because although I have been mixing in some pops of color here and there I have stuck to mostly grays and blacks throughout this challenge. I also did an all tan/cream monochrome outfit.  So I have been craving color.

Shirt – New York and Company, Skirt – The Limited, Tights – New York and Company, Shoes – Nine West via TJ Maxx, Earrings – Made by Me, Watch – New York and Company

The hubs took several pictures tonight, but this one captured the color and details of my shirt the best, so even though the lighting on my face isn’t the best, I went with it. I can’t wait for the sun to stay out longer.  The weather has been so nice lately. I mean it was 65 out today. That is INSANE! I am not sure how I might be able to do tomorrow’s challenge – as it will be in the 60s again and that is not coat weather for me.

I love everything about this shirt though. I love how it fits, the fun bow, the pattern, and the feel. It is such a great piece, I can’t wait to wear it in more ways. I also love how wearing the same color tights and shoes make me look taller. It makes me smile. I love these earrings too. I made a necklace that matches, but it broke a while ago and I haven’t gotten around to fixing it. I will do that soon. Because while this outfit didn’t need a necklace. I think that it would have looked nice. I should also make some more jewelry in general. It is fun and a great way to get one of a kind pieces. I think that the next thing I make is a nice statement necklace. I will have to go bead shopping soon! Have any of you attempted to make your own jewelry? Have any good tips?

The Winter Edition 10 Day Challenge {Day 6 – Decade or Region}

Well I am back with the Winter Edition 10 Day Challenge.  Kayla at Freckles in April is doing such a great job coming up with prompts for this challenge. Today, she challenged us to dress from a decade or region. Can you guess which I picked?

Sweater – Strand via TJ Maxx, Necklace – The Limited, Belt – Fossil via TJ Maxx, Skirt – Express, Watch – DKNY via TJ Maxx, Tights – New York and Company, Shoes – Simply Vera via Kohls

Well I attempted late 50’s early 60’s office fashion. AKA anything that reminded me of Mad Men.  I used these photos {retrieved from google images} as I was putting together my outfit last night.

Joan – I want to be you someday!

Peggy – I love when you kick it up a notch and dress really well!

And then this came from the inspiration post.

Overall, I am pleased with my outfit. I even put my hair up in a bun. Not the best bun, but I tried to be Joan-esque.

I also really liked how the raspberry tights played off of the pink belt.
